Composition is the art of leading the eye. A pleasing or successful painting doesn't just happen, it results from you, the artist, making a series of good decisions as you work. Since painting en plein air allows little time to deliberate this class will teach you how to make your design decisions more rapidly. Composition is more than just cropping an image, it involves anticipating where to place the point of focus, how to build up the paint, and what can be edited out altogether. This class will draw inspiration directly from nature while offering concrete ways to modify shape, edge, value and color to create a satisfying work of art.
