Maryhill Museum of Art is cancelling the 2020 edition of Pacific Northwest Plein Air in the Columbia River Gorge because of concerns about the health and safety of PNWPA artists and the public. The conditions in which artists are used to working here in the Gorge may still be diminished during late July and the opening reception and sale may not be allowed to occur as expected. All artists who were chosen for this year’s event will automatically become 2021 artists. Peggi Kroll Roberts will be next year’s juror and her workshop will occur then.
Thinking ahead, the 2021 Plein Air Painting in the Columbia River Gorge paint-out is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 26. Work will be turned in to the museum on Thursday afternoon, July 29, and the opening reception will be on Saturday night, July 31. The exhibition/sale is planned for the museum’s education center from August 1–21, 2021, with art pickup occurring during the day of Sunday, August 22.
